Marketing and Communications Intern

June - August 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Morningstar runs a Summer Internship Program with 30+ other interns, which became beneficial to collaborate and learn from others while they work in other areas of the company. The interns also participate in a Case Study project to research our products and data and get to present our recommendations to leadership at the close of the internship.

What I wish was different

I wish we had a say on which department we would have liked to work in, rather than just being assigned a role by HR

Advice

Morningstar offers a "coffee chat" culture so don't hesitate to reach out to full time employees and ask about their experiences with the company and the work they do! You can learn a lot about how our services impact our clients on a global scale.

What I wish was different

Advice

Make sure you are vocal about what you want, whether that's what team you want to be on once you get an internship offer, or specific projects on your team once your summer has started

Morningstar Development Program

July 2017 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

The company culture is great. Everyone is approachable and genuinely interested in helping you grow. Additionally, because this is a rotational program, you have a starting class of peers who are recent college grads. It's an instant friend group.

What I wish was different

I wish that MDP's had more input in their first rotation.

Advice

Just be yourself. Don't worry about trying to impress x, y, and z.
