Marketing Design Intern

May - August 2018 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

I liked being able to work with a team of designers on projects that were actually used. I learned so much from the people I worked with and the projects that I got to contribute to.

What I wish was different

I wish they had more projects lined up for me. There was a lot of downtime where no one had anything for me to work on.

Product Management Intern

June - August 2017 • Burr Ridge, IL

What I liked

It was pretty laid back, and I didn't do the "typical intern work" that a lot of internships had. I worked alongside my supervisor and worked on the same tasks he did. It felt like I was really being prepared for post-grad.

What I wish was different

I wish the location had been different, but they've merged offices with their downtown location now, so I guess it is.

Advice

I would say to not just take what you're given and just finish it, but instead really apply yourself and show them that you're interested in growing in the internship and that you want to be there. I kept in touch with my supervisor and we discussed my coming back, however, I ended up choosing a different company to work at post-grad, but I think by trying hard to prove yourself, you'll be more successful and they'll be more likely to offer you a job.
