Engineer Intern
January 2017 • Orlando, FL
What I liked
Quality people who are eager to help and put you in a role to succeed. Once you're brought on you are treated as part of the team and they make it a point to stress that they aren't really only looking for internship. They are looking for future employees. As long as you do your part and are as ready to learn as they are to teach then chances are you will be brought on after graduation.
What I wish was different
The beginning process of finding a defined role. Everyone is ready to teach, but if you haven't been given a defined role then no one knows what to teach you that will be relevant to the work you will be doing.
Advice
Make sure you actually like the work you do. I was blessed to have many people willing to listen around me, but I had to be reminded that no one else knows what's going through my mind unless I spoke up. This allowed me to move into different positions where my skill set and interests aligned better with what I was doing.

Software Engineer Intern
June - August 2017 • Florham Park, NJ
What I liked
I love the work environment at this company, and have really enjoyed working with the people as well. I am treated as an actual employee, not just as an intern, and everyone is always so willing to help. It has truly been such a positive experience for me these past two summers.
What I wish was different
I wish that there was a little more variety in what I worked on while I was there, but overall I did find what I was working on to be interesting.
Advice
Ask lots of questions! Everyone was always willing to talk and explain what they did for the company. The more questions you ask the better. Being friendly and interested in what everyone does leaves a good impression.

Systems Engineering Intern
May 2018 • Pittsfield, MA
What I liked
Being a part of a big corporation was really nice for a change and having paid holidays and time off was also a huge plus.
What I wish was different
I wish I lived closer to my work (15-20 mins) instead of commuting 45-50 minutes every day
Advice
Enjoy the relatively relaxed work environment and take advantage of being an intern--if you mess up as an intern it's not a big deal; if you mess up as a full time employee it's a lot different

Software Engineer Intern
August 2018 • Huntsville, AL
What I liked
I work in an office with people who are very willing to help one another, and as an intern, this is extremely important. I get to work on real projects and make an impact like a full time engineer would.
What I wish was different
Nothing, I’m very happy with my experience.
Advice
Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. As an intern, you’re expected to know little to nothing about the actual job you’re hired to do. It’s all about your will and ability to learn.

Amazing team. Challenging workload. Overall the most comfortable environment to improve my skills and learn about the industry.
What I wish was different
I started my internship at an unconventional time, but I wish there were more interns starting when I did.
Advice
Be patient with yourself. You will have a lot of questions and basically need to relearn every skill. The company is investing in you, so be comfortable with knowing very little and take advantage of this training and grace period.

What I wish was different
I wish there was a location closer to my residence.
Advice
It was a great opportunity that I found through my capstone project. When you get into your capstone make sure you seriously consider the projects and look for something that can benefit you. Choose something that can provide employment or experience that will significantly help gaining employment elsewhere.

ASIC/FPGA Intern
March 2018 • Scottsdale, AZ
What I liked
I enjoyed most of the experience. It was interesting and very useful to get hands on training and work on an actual project being shipped to customers. The hours were manageable and my manager was very willing to adjust my hours to reflect my schooling needs.
What I wish was different
I wish I had a wider variety of topics to work on. Since I was assigned to one project, I worked extensively within that project and didn't get to experience as much as I could have.
Advice
Go into the internship with a willingness to work hard and learn from your coworkers, and you will likely get an offer to return and continue your internship.
