Spring 2023 Art & Climate Action - Intern - CCE Internships+

This internship is offered through the CCE Internships+ Program at Columbia University. This is a CCE Sponsored Internship Program in which interns participate in professional development programming alongside their internship. All students must be currently enrolled. Funding is available for select unpaid and low paid opportunities at not-for-profit organizations. All students must be currently enrolled. Stipend Amount:
Virtual internships are eligible for a stipend of $600. In-person or hybrid internships are eligible for a stipend of $1,000.

Earth Celebrations is a non-profit organization applying the arts to build community, collaboration and environmental action.

Interns will engage and assist with community-based collaborative arts production for ECOLOGICAL CITY: Art & Climate Solutions Project applies mobilizing action on climate solution initiatives throughout the community gardens, neighborhood and waterfront on the Lower East Side of New York City.

Earth Celebrations applies its pioneering cultural strategies we have developed since 1991, including community-based arts, partnership-building and environmental action. Earth Celebrations’ Ecological City- Art & Climate Solutions Action Project project engages community gardeners, river-based groups, community centers, schools, youth and residents through a series workshops to develop visual art, giant puppets, costumes, performance, dance, music and poetry works exploring local climate resiliency and ecological sustainability solutions to mitigate flooding, carbon pollution and impacts of climate change o the Lower East Side of New York City. The artistic works are featured in a culminating public cultural action.

Skills: arts production, visual arts workshop assistance, arts, theatrical and event production, logistics management and creative community engagement.

Interests: sustainability, environmental studies, climate action, community-based arts, civic engagement, community outreach, advocacy/activism, theatrical/arts/event production, community organizing, urbanism, environmental issues and urban planning.

100 hour minimum time-commitment per semester

International students (F1) need to secure US employment authorization. When considering applying for a position, you should connect with your Academic Advisor and ISSO to determine the process. Pre-Completion OPT (Optional Practical Training – USCIS processing may take 3-5 months) or CPT (Curricular Practical Training – ISSO will process within 2-3 weeks). You must have either the OPT EAD approval, or the CPT approval to begin your internship on the agreed upon start date.
