Educational Consultant in China

Spend an Exciting Year Teaching Academic Writing in Hangzhou and Shanghai, China!

 

Thinktown Education, one of the top Educational Consultation companies in Southeastern China, has seven campuses around Hangzhou and three satellite offices in Hefei, Shanghai, and NYC, employing more than 500 full-time employees. We are currently looking for smart, driven instructors to lead classes on academic writing and provide college consultation for students applying to US colleges. You’ll be working with a supportive, welcoming team in our Hangzhou and Shanghai office. 

 

Responsibilities:

·       Teach small classes of high school-aged students the writing skills they need to get accepted to and succeed in American colleges.

·       Utilize a prepared, developed curriculum.

·       Assist students in developing their college application essays through brainstorming sessions and written feedback.

·       Support the staff and students at Thinktown’s office by sharing your experience and knowledge of the American college experience.

·       Meet with prospective students and their families by sharing your experience and knowledge of the American college experience.

·       Act as a liaison between the New York office and the various Chinese offices.


Approximately 40 hours per week, the position is a one year commitment starting June 2017. Initial training will be done in our NYC office, can also be done remotely for out of state applicants, starting June 2017 and estimated arrival in China will be July 2017. 

Qualifications:

·       Passion for writing, editing, and instruction.

·       Experience tutoring preferred.

·       Previous experience living abroad preferred but not necessary.

·       Ability to live independently in a foreign country

·       No prior teaching experience or certification required.

·       Responsible, with strong organizational skills.

·       Strong communication abilities and team spirit.

·       Interest in Chinese culture.

·       Bachelor’s Degree received or in-progress from an English-speaking university.

·       Native proficiency in English.


Salary and Benefits:

·       10,000 RMB a month (approximately $1,500 USD)
