Research Associate

The Center on Medicine as a Profession seeks a Research Associate for a project on medical professionalism. Major responsibilities include:
- Researching the impact of medical professionalism;
- Researching medical professionalism and organizational policies;
- Research assistance to the Director as needed;
- Teaching assistant to the Director in a Columbia College senior seminar entitled Medicine and Western Civilization;
- Supporting a grant-making program to academic medical centers that aims to promote new educational curricula in professionalism;
- Supporting a program that promotes advocacy among physicians and an annual conference of fellows;

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferably in the social sciences or health sciences or equivalent education or experience plus two years of relevant experience
- Highly organized and attentive to details
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Significant experience in research involving healthcare, medicine and policy
- Skilled writer able to formulate cogent arguments
- Excellent computer skills
- Familiarity in health policy, advocacy, and history and sociology of medicine
- Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary academic setting
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and research/writing skills
