Summer Marketing Intern (China-Focused)- CEO Beijing

This internship is offered through the Columbia Experience Overseas (CEO) program.  To learn more about CEO, go to http://www.careereducation.columbia.edu/findajob/cce-internship/ceo.  All CEO 2017 internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2016 semester and January 2017 on a rolling basis.  To find CEO internship postings, search under the Internships tab on LionSHARE, and use the “Label” function. There are at least two required components to all CEO position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer as outlined below :

  2. Transcript (This is your spring course schedule which you should access by logging onto Student Services Online, clicking on “My Schedule” and copying and pasting your Spring 2017 course schedule into a Microsoft Word Document. The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Spring 2017 Courses, and your enrollment status.)
  3. Cover Letter (if required, click Apply Now and check for required documents)
  4. Other materials (ex: Writing Sample, etc. if required, click Apply Now and check for required documents)

Overview of role and responsibilities:

Mantra is, currently, almost exclusively focused on the China market. The China-focused marketing intern will contribute to 3 key facets of Mantra’s core business. This internship role will work with Mantra’s marketing, operations and partnership management teams to increase and improve customer interactions. Work will include but not be limited to the following: 

1. Event Coordination and Management: Mantra will host numerous events in Beijing and across China during summer 2017, and this intern will help in organizing and executing those events successfully.

2. Content & Social Media Development: Mantra’s social media platforms (especially WeChat) are our primary channels for communicating directly with our customers. A successful intern will contribute to the production and cultivation of content for our social media channels. This will potentially include photo, video, and copy-writing work (amateur proficiency in these skills is encouraged but not required), and an enthusiasm for Chinese social media.

3. Operational & Sales: Will work with our operations team to help in fulfilling orders, engaging with customers, resolving logistical issues and other aspects of running a successful e-commerce company in China.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

* Experience or interest in the following will help make for a successful internship: social media marketing, basic data analysis, fashion/apparel industry, copy writing

* Good communication skills, attention to detail, willingness to take on new challenges, self-motivated/resourceful approach to problem-solving

* Either an understanding of / exposure to China/Chinese culture, or a strong interest in developing a long-term and in-depth understanding of doing business in China.

* This position, while open to non-Chinese speakers, will be most effectively filled by someone with at least functional/conversant Mandarin. Fluent or highly-functional Mandarin is an additional plus. If you are interested in building businesses in China, however, we encourage you to apply regardless of language level.

Student Payment:

A stipend is provided at the rate of 125 RMB (~$18 USD) per working day
