Summer Marketing & Communications Intern - CEO London

This internship is offered through the Columbia Experience Overseas (CEO) program. To learn more about CEO, go to http://www.careereducation.columbia.edu/findajob/cce-internship/ceo. All CEO 2017 internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2016 semester and January 2017 on a rolling basis. To find CEO internship postings, search under the Internships tab on LionSHARE, and use the “Label” function. You may apply to up to eight (8) positions of interest across all CEO locations (Amman, Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, Shanghai, Seoul, and Singapore).  Having your resume and cover letter reviewed by a CCE counselor is strongly recommended before applying. There are at least two required components to all CEO position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer as outlined below :

  1. Resume
  2. Transcript (This is your spring course schedule which you should access by logging onto Student Services Online, clicking on “My Schedule” and copying and pasting your Spring 2017 course schedule into a Microsoft Word Document. The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Spring 2017 Courses, and your enrollment status.)
  3. Cover Letter (if required, click Apply Now and check for required documents)
  4. Other materials (ex: Writing Sample, etc. if required, click Apply Now and check for required documents)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to provide opportunity for a volunteer intern willing to support our marketing and communication team and acquire work experience as described in details below.


PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the communications department in delivering consistent positive media coverage for International Medical Corps UK across a range of national, regional and local print, online and broadcast channels.
• Support in writing and editing media releases and statements, briefing materials, case studies and other content.
• Contribute new ideas for press and media and identify suitable initiatives and opportunities to pursue.
• Build relationships with internal departments at International Medical Corps and work closely with marketing, fundraising and other departments on media campaigns, award submissions and other relevant projects.
• Maintain regular detailed awareness of the national and international news agenda identifying opportunities or bringing issues to the attention of line manager as appropriate.
• Support with up-to-date media monitoring; evaluating media coverage and PR activity for internal and external reports.
• Draft and schedule social media content (mainly Facebook and Twitter)
• Create graphics to be used on social media, in emails and on the website
• Proof and edit social media/email/website content where necessary
• Identify stories of interest to promote online

OTHER
• Undertake any other duties commensurate with the purpose and remit of the post.
