Summer Associate - CEO Shanghai

This internship is offered through the Columbia Experience Overseas (CEO) program.  To learn more about CEO, go to http://www.careereducation.columbia.edu/findajob/cce-internship/ceo.  All CEO 2017 internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2016 semester and January 2017 on a rolling basis.  To find CEO internship postings, search under the Internships tab on LionSHARE, and use the “Label” function. There are at least two required components to all CEO position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer as outlined below :

The following documents must be submitted through LionSHARE for each position of interest: 

  1. Resume
  2. Transcript (This is your spring course schedule which you should access by logging onto Student Services Online, clicking on “My Schedule” and copying and pasting your Spring 2017 course schedule into a Microsoft Word Document. The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Spring 2017 Courses, and your enrollment status.)
  3. Cover Letter (if required, click Apply Now and check for required documents)
  4. Other materials (ex: Writing Sample, etc. if required, click Apply Now and check for required documents)

Academic Background/Interests: Flexible

Technical Skills: Should have understanding of Office applications including Word, PPT, Excel. Awareness of Adobe applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign also useful but not required

Languages and Level of Fluency (speaking/reading/writing): Strong Mandarin ability is a big benefit as it allows us to more deeply integrate interns into the team and get them involved with research. WORK

Responsibilities: Will you require the student to initiate projects on his/her own, or will s/he be assigned specific projects with direct supervision at all times? We will be assigning projects at all times. Examples of projects include due diligence work for Private Equity firms, Mutual Funds, and Hedge Funds, and research and strategy for luxury brands, apparel brands, e-commerce platforms. Will the intern have a choice of projects/tasks on which to work or will you assign specific projects/tasks to the intern? We typically try to mix interns in with the regular team so that they can be fully integrated into a project. Project focus changes depending on the year. If we are working on something that is highly relevant to an intern’s interest we will try to staff him or her on that project however the range of industries we cover is very broad. If possible, please describe the types of projects in which the intern might participate and the type of work for which the intern will be responsible.

-Market entry strategy and product development for world’s largest packaged seafood company

-Consumer insights and retail strategy for top global luxury brand

-Sales strategy for international defense products company selling to the Chinese government

-Development of new major and recruitment strategy for US University with new campus based in China

-Quarterly evaluation of China auto market for world’s largest mutual fund company.
