Summer Intern – Real Estate & Asset Management - CEO London

This internship is offered through the Columbia Experience Overseas (CEO) program. To learn more about CEO, go to http://www.careereducation.columbia.edu/findajob/cce-internship/ceo. All CEO 2017 internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2016 semester and January 2017 on a rolling basis. There are at least two required components to all CEO position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer as outlined below :

The position would report into the Real Estate & Asset Management - International (REAM) group. Based in the United Kingdom, the REAM team is responsible for all of Hilton’s real estate and asset management activities outside the Americas. This includes portfolio management activities for nearly 100 owned, leased and joint-venture interests in hotels in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. The mandate of the group is to enhance long term value of the portfolio through appropriate capital investments, restructurings, workouts and acquisitions/dispositions.

Responsibilities:

The Intern would be an important member of the REAM team and provide a supportive role in the various activities of the group through the internship period. This may include:

- Supportive role in evaluating long-term asset enhancement opportunities. This includes review of capital investment programs; preparation of supporting schedules and excel spreadsheets to evaluate/analyze annual capital spend and identifying/evaluating return on investment opportunities.

- Supporting role in establishing the $100 million capital expenditure budget for 2016 for the hotel portfolio. Reconciling and reviewing the capital expenditure proposed by each hotel. (This includes rolling up data from each hotel, consolidating spreed sheets and presenting data to senior management).

- Analytical and evaluative support for assessment of return on investment projects. Establish cash flows and quantify risk adjusted returns for various projects. Prepare analysis and memos for executive leadership to review.

- Provide analytical support to to identify buy/sell and investment or redevelopment opportunities for various hotels.

- Assist team members in negotiating or restructuring hotel leases with landlords. (A significant portion of the portfolio is operated under long–term leases many of which are expiring or up for rent renegotiation).

- Supporting role in a variety of real estate transactions including valuation of joint venture interests, acquisitions /dispositions, renegotiation of joint venture interests, asset work-outs and asset level debt restructurings.
