Summer Intern, Strategy and Learning - CEO Mumbai

This internship is offered through the Columbia Experience Overseas (CEO) program. To learn more about CEO, go to http://www.careereducation.columbia.edu/findajob/cce-internship/ceo. All CEO 2017 internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2016 semester and January 2017 on a rolling basis. There are at least two required components to all CEO position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer as outlined below :

The following documents must be submitted through LionSHARE for each position of interest:

  1. Resume
  2. Transcript (This is your spring course schedule which you should access by logging onto Student Services Online, clicking on “My Schedule” and copying and pasting your Spring 2017 course schedule into a Microsoft Word Document. The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Spring 2017 Courses, and your enrollment status.)
  3. Cover Letter (if required, click Apply Now and check for required documents)
  4. Other materials (ex: Writing Sample, etc. if required, click Apply Now and check for required documents)

The CEO program runs June 12- August 4, 2017.  Submit your completed applications via LionSHARE by Sunday, February 12, 2017.

Position Summary:
The Intern, Strategy and Learning will be responsible for providing research and analytical support to the Manager, Strategy and Learning (S&L) and help him/her deepen and sustain short-term and long-term impact, and meet sustainability goals in Cities that Teach For India operates in. As of 2016, Teach For India operates in seven cities, and this role will be focused on continuous learning and improvement across all the cities.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include:

1. Enabling, monitoring and aiding continuous learning of the City Director group by supporting in the analysis and review of City visions and annual strategic plans, and analysing operational and city-specific impact data
2. Enabling rigorous analysis of City Progress-to-Goals and continuous improvement by supporting the S&L Manager and concerned City Director(s) in unearthing strategies that have been effective / have not worked
3. Helping review / revisit cities’ and specific national priorities by participating in City Director stepbacks and (jointly with the S&L Manager) abstracting individual and collective learning
4. Supporting in making city operations related decisions that cut across functions (e.g. – Recruitment, Program and Alumni Impact, Fundraising, Staffing and Retention etc.) by analysing large amounts of data, information and inputs from different teams
5. Supporting in review and improvement of organizational reports and data management systems
6. Continuously exploring avenues for organisational improvement through research of related theories / analysis of anecdotal evidences
7. Participating in specific city wide projects targeted at improving organisational effectiveness / efficiencies in the areas of Strategy, Impact and Operations
8. Researching and preparing background material for organisational improvement exercises and external presentations in forums such as conferences
