Internship Description:

1) Jaico’s Editorial Internship Program is based in Mumbai and offers a chance to gain wide experience in the highly competitive world of publishing. Mentored by in-house editors, our editorial interns are encouraged to learn each level of the publishing process, from typesetting and proofreading manuscripts, to hands-on editorial and creative work, as well as reviewing manuscripts and networking with authors, designers and third-party vendors.

Interns are encouraged to take initiative, work independently and take advantage of the many opportunities presented to them in the day-to-day challenges of the editorial department.

We give ample opportunity to learn the essentials of editorial work from research to writing, revising manuscripts, editing to style guides, fact-checking and sourcing artwork and photographs. Interns may also be asked to interact with the marketing, PR and social media departments and to assist with special projects and book launches for the books they are assigned.

2) The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about books and languages. Command over the English language and an eye for the detail are must, and the candidate will be tested on these before his/her application is accepted.

The candidate must be organized, on time and willing to work to meet the deadlines. Creativity is welcomed at Jaico Publishing House and we encourage interns to ask questions, suggest ideas and use their initiative.

It is essential that you are able to work as part of a team, overcome language and cultural barriers and be willing to learn from those around you.
