Undergraduate Admissions is looking to hire a team of Social Media Interns to support social media initiatives. Reporting to an admissions officer in Undergraduate Admissions, a team of Social Media Interns will be responsible for the execution of the office’s social media strategy. They will generate and share original content for Columbia Admissions social media accounts, including Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
 
Examples of Responsibilities
With direction from their supervisor, the Social Media Interns will work on a variety of projects. Some of these responsibilities may include: 
  • Create and solicit engaging social media content that covers focus points and timely themes relative to Undergraduate Admissions’ yearly cycle and strategic goals
  • Coordinate initiatives such as crowd-sourced event content and student takeovers
  • Create, produce and curate videos for use on social platforms
  • Design graphics for posts, video thumbnails and other admissions initiatives
  • Conduct research and monitor data analytics to identify trends, measure impact and inform strategy. 
 
Qualifications
Prior experience using multiple social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Familiarity with Canva, Hootsuite and Adobe InDesign preferred, as well as experience in communications, marketing, video production or journalism. Must be creative, independent, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple demands with discretion and diplomacy. They must be a skilled writer, creating a common voice across multiple platforms, and be passionate about the Columbia undergraduate community and be able to demonstrate the unique opportunities and experiences that are available for Columbia students. A portfolio is required, including links or screenshots of social media content they have created.
