Production Intern
Help reinvent live news for the next generation! Happs is seeking creative and self-motivated production interns to join our team. As a production intern, you will be reporting to the community manager and working with other interns around the world to crowdsource live coverage of breaking news and current events. Anyone who joins our team must be highly creative and willing to try new ways to source and execute live news coverage.
The ideal candidate will be a bit of a news junkie, have a passion for storytelling, be in tune with social media and what people are talking about, and have a knack for thinking ahead to what might be the next big event or topic that will be on everyone’s minds. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with digital media and understands how best practices have evolved over time and where the industry is headed. Candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be well-organized, have excellent people skills, and a positive can-do, team-oriented attitude. In a startup, we wear many hats, so being comfortable and flexible in that type of environment is an absolute must.
Job Responsibilities:
- Regularly share breaking and trending news stories, links and even live content to the Happs platform
- Engage with community members around the world to encourage participation
- Work to execute a minimum of three news events per week by sourcing people to livestream using social media and other members of the Happs community
- Help curate and moderate content being created on the Happs platform
Qualifications:
- Currently an undergraduate or graduate student interested in communications and/or journalism
- A passion for news, global events, and trending topics
- Ability to work independently and also with a tight-knit team
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines and a “startup” timetable
- A creative, solutions-oriented approach to problem solving
- An understanding of how to source social media to find potential livestreamers for Happs stories
- The desire to work in a startup
