Summer 2019 Strategy and Learning Intern - CEO Mumbai

CEO Program Description:
This internship is offered through the Columbia Experience Overseas (CEO) program. To learn more about CEO, go to http://www.careereducation.columbia.edu/findajob/cce-internship/ceo. All CEO 2019 internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2018 semester and January 2019 on a rolling basis. To find CEO internship postings, search under the Internships tab on LionSHARE, and use the “Label” function. Position Summary:
The Intern will support the Strategy & Learning Team with internal and external research, strategy creation, implementation and learning. She/he will work with other teams in the organization and will be primarily expected to deal efficiently with rich data and provide insightful findings
 
Team Overview:
 
As Teach For India enters a new Phase 3 of its journey (2017 – 2022), we’re asking ourselves a seemingly daunting question: “How do we do as much as we can for as many children as we can?” In purely numerical terms, this translates into the intent to impact 1 million children through 6000 Alumni and Fellow Leaders through a range of initiatives. While these initiatives have far-reaching effects, especially at the scale at which Teach For India will operate, making them come to life will test the entire range and depth of our strengths and capabilities in strategy design, execution, monitoring, and learning. Unearthing the potential of people towards deepened impact represents a massive opportunity to set Teach For India up for success in its journey towards educational equity.
 
The Strategy & Learning Team enables Teach For India to deliver on its goals effectively in Phase 3 by ensuring purposeful and tight strategy execution and learning. By designing strategies for the working of different teams, and helping to create and implement monitoring and learning frameworks, the team works at the core of the organization. Some of the past projects we have worked on include designing and managing the strategic planning process for the organization, supporting the Recruitment team to develop their strategy for their and closely monitor the execution, institutionalizing a monitoring and reporting culture in the organization.
 
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities may include:
 
·        Studying and understanding in depth various frameworks, which eventually will help in research
·        Compiling and documenting research, hypotheses, insights, and engagement processes
·        Supporting strategic and operational planning and review with the city and national teams
·        Supporting in making strategic and operational decisions that cut across functions (e.g. – Recruitment, Program, and Alumni Impact, Fundraising, Staffing, and Retention etc.) by analyzing large amounts of data, information, and inputs from different teams
·        Engaging in brainstorming sessions with teams to identify problems and hypothesize causes and solutions.
·        Assisting managers in various team projects, including interaction with other teams
 
 Support & administrative responsibilities may include:
 
·        Create a reporting system for sharing S&L Team learnings with the rest of the organization, SLT, and Board of Directors
·        Respond to requests for data or analyses from stakeholders
·        Proactively research and execute new ideas and initiatives that could support TFI in meeting its strategic priorities
 
 
Knowledge and Technical Skills:
 
·        A belief that every single child deserves an excellent education and that every single child has the ability to be successful in school, despite their background
·        Strong analytical (data/evidence gathering, analysis and interpretation, hypotheses framing and validation) and research capabilities
·        Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Powerpoint
·        Strong project management & time management capabilities
·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
·        Strong work ethic
 
Education and Experience:
Prior work experience in project management is preferred

Required Components:

The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Spring 2019 Courses, and your enrollment status.)

  4. Other materials (ex: Writing Sample, etc. if required - click ‘Apply Now’ and check for required documents)
The CEO program runs June 10- August 2, 2019. Students must participate for the entire duration of the program. Submit your completed applications via LionSHARE by Sunday, February 10, 2019.
