Summer 2019 Research Assistant- CEO Amman

CEO Program Description:
This internship is offered through the Columbia Experience Overseas (CEO) program. To learn more about CEO, go to http://www.careereducation.columbia.edu/findajob/cce-internship/ceo. All CEO 2019 internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2018 semester and January 2019 on a rolling basis. To find CEO internship postings, search under the Internships tab on LionSHARE, and use the “Label” function. You may apply to up to eight (8) positions of interest across all CEO locations. You can find all CCE Sponsored Internship positions by going to https://www.careereducation.columbia.edu/jobs-internships/cce-internship-program-positions/search. You must be in good academic and judicial standing with Columbia University to be eligible to participate in the program. Company Job Description:
The Assistant Researcher internship position is directly linked to JMI's Dean, who will serve as the intern’s supervisor either personally or through his Deputy or Office Manager. 

The task list and desired skills are outlined below.

TASK LIST
1. Prepare and edit documents and presentations.
2. Assist in the preparation of concept notes, papers and studies.
3. Gather and analyse data (knowledge in content analysis is a plus).
4. Scan and review available literature on major topics cited in calls for proposals launched by donor organizations.
5. Meet with the main researcher (the Dean) to receive and discuss assignments.
6. Perform clerical duties connected to research activities.

DESIRED SKILLS
1. Experience in conducting and writing research
2. Good writing and editing skills 
3. Good skills in preparing documents and presentations intended for publication
4. Ability to work with minimum supervision
5. Experience in content analysis is a plus
6. Good knowledge of the Arabic language is a plus

Required Components:
There are at least two required components to all CEO position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer as outlined below:

Transcript (This is your spring course schedule which you should access by logging onto Student Services Online, clicking on “My Schedule” and copying and pasting your Spring 2019 course schedule into a Microsoft Word Document. The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Spring 2019 Courses, and your enrollment status.)
  3. Cover Letter (if required - click ‘Apply Now’ and check for required documents)
  4. Other materials (ex: Writing Sample, etc. if required - click ‘Apply Now’ and check for required documents)
The CEO program runs June 9- August 1, 2019. Students must participate for the entire duration of the program. Submit your completed applications via LionSHARE by Sunday, February 10, 2019.
