Summer Intern - CCASSIP

This internship is offered through the Columbia College Alumni-Sponsored Student Internship Program, (CCASSIP). CCASSIP Positions and the program are open to CC students only. All CCASSIP 2018 positions will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2017/Spring 2018 semester on a rolling basis. To find CCASSIP internship postings, search under the Internships tab on LionSHARE, and use the “Label” function. There is no application limit for CCASSIP positions. You must be in good academic and judicial standing with Columbia University to be eligible to participate in the program. By submitting an application, I authorize the Center for Career Education to conduct academic and disciplinary checks to confirm program eligibility.

Internship Description:

The Summer Internship at the Smithsonian American Art Museum is a full-time appointment (40 hours a week), designed to provide an introduction to museum work for students who have had little or no previous museum experience. Students will concentrate on one aspect of museum work for eight weeks in an area matched to the individual’s interests and career goals. Intern assignments may revolve around the development or production of current or future exhibitions and publications; teacher or student related programs; public events, or other specific museum departmental activities and programs. In addition to developing skills through projects within Museum departments, interns participate in weekly workshops, conservation lab tours, field trips to other cultural institutions, and brown-bag lunches with Fellows and staff. Students should consult the Museum’s website <http: Americanart.si.edu/research/internships> prior to submitting their application to see more specifics about the museum’s various departmental activities, responsibilities and requirements. 

To be eligible, students should be entering or have completed their junior year in college at the time of application. Along with majors in Art History, American Studies, Studio or Visual Arts, students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.  International students with current visas, who are living in the U.S. at the time of application, are welcome to apply.
