Spring Training & Education Intern - CAE

This internship is offered through the Columbia Arts Experience (CAE). This is a CCE Sponsored Internship Program in which interns participate in professional development programming alongside their internship. This includes attending a Pre-program training, Mid-semester dinner, and end-of-program Reflection session as well as completion of a reflection project. These elements will support success in the internship experience itself, help students learn more about the related industry or type of work, as well as help students prepare for and plan next steps after the experience.  Internship Description:

The Training and Education Intern works to ensure the impeccable management and operation of training and education at both Gibney Dance locations. The Training and Education Intern (TEI) reports to the Senior Training and Education Manager (TEM). The TEI focuses on developing a unique skillset centered around professional customer service, and includes training in software such as MindBody and InDesign. Interns work alongside Gibney Dance staff and personnel to gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of our vibrant performing arts center.

All Interns assist with general administrative and operational tasks as needed. These responsibilities may include:
- Answering phones and providing information
- Assisting with class registration and payments
- Be knowledgeable of the class schedule and program, and answering questions as needed
- Helping maintain operations and facilities
- Working as a team with the staff and Center Interns to provide outstanding and consistent customer service
- Enforcing policies and procedures

The primary task of the TEI is to support class administration for Training & Education programming. This includes:
- Checking internal schedules against MindBody Classes and Space calendars
- Updating substitutes and classes changes in MindBody on a regular basis
- Update teacher biographies and class descriptions in MindBody as needed
- Process complimentary staff and teacher class credits in MindBody weekly and as needed
- Communicate upcoming holes in the class schedule with the TEM
- Provide support for center interns in all class sales and registration
- Act as a resource for Center Interns regarding all class procedures and policies
- Review daily class registration in Mindbody to ensure accuracy of payments and class enrollment
- Support TEM in tracking attendance of full time training students
- Create unique documents for tracking, sharing information, etc. for a variety of events and needs
- Complete data entry and management projects for Training & Education in MindBody and Excel
- Create weekly printed class schedules in InDesign

Application Instructions:

This position is part of the CAE program. All 2018 spring internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2017 semester on a rolling basis beginning in late September. (Search for the label "CAE" under the “Labels” field in LionShare to view all program positions.) You may apply to up to three (3) positions of interest in the CAE program. You must be in good academic and judicial standing with Columbia University to be eligible to participate in the program.

There are at least two required components to all CAE position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer. The following documents must be submitted through LionSHARE for each position of interest:

  1. Resume
  2. Transcript (This is your Fall 2017 course schedule which you should access by logging onto Student Services Online, clicking on “My Schedule” and copying and pasting your Fall 2017 course schedule into a Microsoft Word Document. The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Fall 2017 Courses, and your enrollment status.)
  3. Cover Letter (if required - click Apply Now and check for required documents)
  4. Other materials (ex: Writing Sample, etc. if required - click Apply Now and check for required documents)

CAE Internships run from January 22nd – April 13th. Submit your completed applications via LionSHARE by Sunday, October 29, 2017.
