Spring Arts + Cultural Programs Operations Intern - CAE

This internship is offered through the Columbia Arts Experience (CAE). This is a CCE Sponsored Internship Program in which interns participate in professional development programming alongside their internship. This includes attending a Pre-program training, Mid-semester dinner, and end-of-program Reflection session as well as completion of a reflection project. These elements will support success in the internship experience itself, help students learn more about the related industry or type of work, as well as help students prepare for and plan next steps after the experience. Internship Description:
We offer meaningful internship experiences providing assistance in our office to prepare for the upcoming season of NYC’s marquee outdoor music festival. Interns will gain hands-on experience in diverse areas while helping the full-time staff execute a variety of initiatives. We are seeking upbeat, organized individuals to provide administrative and clerical support to the Operations staff with the day-to-day general office duties. This position encompasses Finance, Administration and Human Resources functionalities. This internship is a great experience for undergraduate/graduate students interested in the general working of an arts nonprofit organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Must have working knowledge of Google Apps (Drive, Gmail, Sheets and Docs)
Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills
Experience working in an office setting preferred
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Ability to meet changing deadlines
Working knowledge of financial statements
Knowledge of basic accounting methods
Sage accounting software experience a plus
Experience and/or knowledge of Microsoft Access a plus
Must have completed sophomore year of college
Team-oriented attitude
Must be open to evolving responsibilities

RANGE OF DUTIES
Answer phones, direct incoming calls and provide information to patrons
Maintain organization of office
Analyze timesheet data
Assist with payroll and accounts payable/receivable processes
Create/maintain spreadsheets related to 2017 + 2018 Arts and Cultural programs
Process check requests
Maintain employee files
Filing
Data entry

Application Instructions:

This position is part of the CAE program. All 2018 spring internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2017 semester on a rolling basis beginning in late September. (Search for the label "CAE" under the “Labels” field in LionShare to view all program positions.) You may apply to up to three (3) positions of interest in the CAE program. You must be in good academic and judicial standing with Columbia University to be eligible to participate in the program.

There are at least two required components to all CAE position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer. The following documents must be submitted through LionSHARE for each position of interest:

  1. Resume
  2. Transcript (This is your Fall 2017 course schedule which you should access by logging onto Student Services Online, clicking on “My Schedule” and copying and pasting your Fall 2017 course schedule into a Microsoft Word Document. The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Fall 2017 Courses, and your enrollment status.)
  3. Cover Letter (if required - click Apply Now and check for required documents)
  4. Other materials (ex: Writing Sample, etc. if required - click Apply Now and check for required documents)

CAE Internships run from January 22nd – April 13th. Submit your completed applications via LionSHARE by Sunday, October 29, 2017.
