Spring Development Operations Intern - KCCAP@CU

Job Description:

This internship is offered through the Kenneth Cole Community Action Program @ Columbia University. This is a CCE Sponsored Internship Program in which interns participate in professional development programming alongside their internship. This includes attending a Pre-program training, Mid-semester dinner, and end-of-program Reflection session as well as completion of a reflection project. These elements will support success in the internship experience itself, help students learn more about the related industry or type of work, as well as help students prepare for and plan next steps after the experience. Positions in this program offer a $1,000 stipend for the spring semester internship. For 36 years the All Stars has created New York’s leading “out-of-the-box” afterschool inner-city youth development programs independent of government funding through a successful approach to community outreach and fundraising. We are seeking a highly professional and capable intern to join our Development Department team for the spring. The intern will be interested in: our independently funded model, non-profit management, fundraising, and changing the world! Working closely with members of the Development Department, the intern will work on projects that support our fundraising operation and play an active role on the team. Responsibilities include producing the launch of the All Stars’ Spring Fundraising Campaign, involvement in the production of fundraising events, including the All Stars Project’s Annual Lincoln Center Gala. Depending on the intern’s schedule and interests, some training in direct fundraising is possible. The intern will also learn about the All Stars Project’s youth and adult development programs. This position is an opportunity to gain first-hand experience into the inner-workings of a successful, independently funded, national non-profit while becoming part of a vibrant organization which builds bridges between people and communities to create growth and development opportunities for youth and adults.

 

Qualifications: * Strong communication skills and professionalism * Highly developed writing and organizational skills * Ability to work independently and creatively with attention to detail* A positive, energetic attitude* A self-starter and quick thinker with an adaptable personality *An interest in learning about the fundraising model of a successful and independently-funded non-profit *An interest in gaining experience working “behind the scenes” at a non-profit* Passion for supporting the social and cultural development of inner-city youth* A desire to grow and participate in philanthropy as a way to change the world * Interest in interacting with a diverse group of people on a regular basis* Interest in learning about the All Stars performance approach to human growth and development and attending performances and events at All Stars during the internship* Passion for theatre/performance and community organizing a plus* Proficiency with Microsoft Office* Proficiency with Google Docs a plus*

This position is part of the Kenneth Cole Community Action Program @ Columbia University. All 2018 spring internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2017 semester on a rolling basis beginning in late September. (Search for the label "KCCAP@CU" under the “Labels” field in LionShare to view all program positions.) You may apply to up to three (3) positions of interest in the Kenneth Cole Community Action Program @ Columbia University. You must be in good academic and judicial standing with Columbia University to be eligible to participate in the program.

There are at least two required components to all Kenneth Cole Community Action Program @ Columbia University position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer. The following documents must be submitted through LionSHARE for each position of interest:

Transcript (This is your Fall 2017 course schedule which you should access by logging onto Student Services Online, clicking on “My Schedule” and copying and pasting your Fall 2017 course schedule into a Microsoft Word Document. The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Fall 2017 Courses, and your enrollment status.)
  3. Cover Letter (if required - click Apply Now and check for required documents)
