Spring Literary & Producing Intern - CAE

This internship is offered through the Columbia Arts Experience (CAE). This is a CCE Sponsored Internship Program in which interns participate in professional development programming alongside their internship. This includes attending a Pre-program training, Mid-semester dinner, and end-of-program Reflection session as well as completion of a reflection project. These elements will support success in the internship experience itself, help students learn more about the related industry or type of work, as well as help students prepare for and plan next steps after the experience. Positions in this program offer a $600 stipend for the spring semester internship. To learn more about the CAE, go to https://www.careereducation.columbia.edu/programs/columbia-arts-experience

Internship Description:
Interns are asked to make a solid weekly commitment and to help staff at weekly performance on Saturday afternoons. Other duties may include logging, reading and responding to stories written by kids, staffing special events, doing research, organizing resources, managing online records, conducting inventories of props/costumes/office supplies, running errands, logging and responding to outside inquiries, and many others. In a few ways, this position is what you might expect when you read the word "internship." In many others, it is not.
It really helps if you enjoy being around kids and want to do something that can make a difference in their lives. We are looking for smart, motivated college or graduate students who have some availability during the week and who are available on Saturday afternoons to help staff the weekly mainstage show in Midtown Manhattan. We require interns not only to work closely with Story Pirates staff, but also to work independently. Familiarity with Mac OS is a plus but not a requirement. Ability to read quickly and write articulate, encouraging responses is key as well.
