Spring Programs Intern - CAE

This internship is offered through the Columbia Arts Experience (CAE). This is a CCE Sponsored Internship Program in which interns participate in professional development programming alongside their internship. This includes attending a Pre-program training, Mid-semester dinner, and end-of-program Reflection session as well as completion of a reflection project. These elements will support success in the internship experience itself, help students learn more about the related industry or type of work, as well as help students prepare for and plan next steps after the experience. Internship Description:

The Springs Program Intern's duties and responsibilities include:

Event Management:
• Reporting to the Programs Manager and working with the Equity and Inclusion Coordinator and Development and Communications Coordinator, support in the execution of all organizational responsibilities for regular programmatic events:
o Annual full-day symposium (February 25, 2018)
o Regular Town Halls (5 scheduled between Sept 2017-March 2018)
• Coordinating with Development and Communications Coordinator, assist in managing event logistics for special cultivation and fundraising event (February 5, 2018)

General Operations: coordinating all aspects of event administration, including:
• Schedules and workflow
• Database (Patron Technology)
• Vendor relations
• Speaker and participant engagement
• Intern and volunteer recruitment and management
• Facilities, A/V, and set up

Strategy: develop replicable event (especially, programming, communications, and facilities) schedules and workflows; maintain detailed attendance records, and issue surveys following events.

Information Technology, Communications, and Marketing: coordinating with Development and Communications Coordinator, support in the creation and execution of all aspects of event communications through Dance.NYC, e-communications (weekly e-newsletter, special bulletins) and social media; coordinate the production of event marketing material (online and print), sponsorship material, and ad placements as appropriate; coordinate technological enhancements to support convening and professional development efforts, including video content for the Symposium and Town Halls.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have relevant prior event management, public speaking, writing, and facilitation experience, and an interest in fundraising. They will be future focused, data driven, strategy minded, and thrive in fast-paced startup environments. They will be methodical and detail oriented, with excellent planning and time management skills, and able to advance multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. They will be current on and comfortably engage with emerging technologies, and demonstrate a commitment to technology solutions in the social enterprise space. They will be versed in the dance and culture landscape and have a wide cross-sector network. They will be comfortable working with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, Adobe Acrobat and Illustrator, and have aptitude for working with online and mobile applications. 

Application Instructions:

This position is part of the CAE program. All 2018 spring internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2017 semester on a rolling basis beginning in late September. (Search for the label "CAE" under the “Labels” field in LionShare to view all program positions.) You may apply to up to three (3) positions of interest in the CAE program. You must be in good academic and judicial standing with Columbia University to be eligible to participate in the program.

There are at least two required components to all CAE position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer. The following documents must be submitted through LionSHARE for each position of interest:

  1. Resume
  2. Transcript (This is your Fall 2017 course schedule which you should access by logging onto Student Services Online, clicking on “My Schedule” and copying and pasting your Fall 2017 course schedule into a Microsoft Word Document. The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Fall 2017 Courses, and your enrollment status.
  3. Cover Letter (if required - click Apply Now and check for required documents)
  4. Other materials (ex: Writing Sample, etc. if required - click Apply Now and check for required documents

CAE Internships run from January 22 – April 13. Submit your completed applications via LionSHARE by Sunday, October 29, 2017.
