Spring SEO Digital Marketing Strategist- SIP

Job Description:

This internship is offered through the Startup Internship Program (SIP). This is a CCE Sponsored Internship Program in which interns participate in professional development programming alongside their internship. This includes attending a Pre-program training, Mid-semester dinner, and end-of-program Reflection session as well as completion of a reflection project. These elements will support success in the internship experience itself, help students learn more about the related industry or type of work, as well as help students prepare for and plan next steps after the experience. Application Instructions:

This position is part of the SIP program. All 2018 spring internships will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2017 semester on a rolling basis beginning in late September. (Search for the label "SIP" under the “Labels” field in LionShare to view all program positions.) You may apply to up to three (3) positions of interest in the SIP program. You must be in good academic and judicial standing with Columbia University to be eligible to participate in the program.

There are at least two required components to all SIP position applications and potentially more as requested by each employer. The following documents must be submitted through LionSHARE for each position of interest:

  1. Resume
  2. Transcript (This is your Fall 2017 course schedule which you should access by logging onto Student Services Online, clicking on “My Schedule” and copying and pasting your Fall 2017 course schedule into a Microsoft Word Document. The schedule should show your full name, your school, your Fall 2017 Courses, and your enrollment status.)
  3. Cover Letter (if required - click Apply Now and check for required documents)
  4. Other materials (ex: Writing Sample, etc. if required - click Apply Now and check for required documents)

SIP Internships run from January 22nd – April 13th. Submit your completed applications via LionSHARE by Sunday, October 29, 2017.

SEO Digital Marketing Strategist & Coordinator
We are looking for an SEO/SEM expert to manage search engine optimization and marketing activities. In this role, you will have a direct role in managing all SEO activities, such as link building, keyword strategy and content coordination to increase rankings on all major search networks. This role requires a high degree of analysis.

Responsibilities You’ll Own and Rock:
-Execute tests, collect and analyze data and results, identify trends and insights in order to achieve maximum ROI in paid search campaigns
-Track, report, and analyze website analytics and other initiatives and campaigns
-Perform ongoing keyword discovery, expansion and optimization
-Research and implement search engine optimization recommendations
-Research and analyze competitor advertising links
-Develop and implement link building strategy
-Work with the development team to ensure SEO best practices are properly implemented on newly developed code
-Optimize copy and landing pages for search engine optimization
-Work with content marketing lead to drive SEO in content creation and content programming
-Recommend changes to website architecture, content, linking and other factors to improve SEO positions for target keywords.

Experience and Requirements:
-SEO experience is not a requirement but is a huge plus. At a minimum, you must be willing to develop strong SEO experience and capabilities through self-driven learning and initiative.
-Capability to understand, learn and remain up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO
-Understanding of performance marketing, conversion, and online customer acquisition
-In-depth experience with website analytics tools (e.g, Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends)
-Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints
-Knowledge of ranking factors and search engine algorithms
