I spoke to more interns, other employees in my org. I had a more exciting project.

Advice

Do not struggle for too long. Try to figure things out yourself but do not become stuck. Have fun with the experience. I got too bogged down with my project that I hardly enjoyed other aspects of the internship.

It was a very large company, it is very easy to find something that you are interested in because there are so many different teams. They are very experienced with working with interns and do a great job making the summer both education as well as fun!

What I wish was different

Make sure to network with other employees or else you might miss out

What I liked

My mentors and managers were very supportive and were willing to help us when we were struggling. My intern team I was working with was also very helpful and I had a good time working with them.

What I wish was different

I wish it was in person because it was hard to meet people if I didn't reach out to people myself. I think the experience in the office would have felt different too.

Advice

Be confident in your abilities and know that you are there because the interviewers saw potential in you. It may seem like everyone knows what they are doing and you are the only one that feels lost, but I learned that everyone feels the same way.

What I liked

I really liked the impact that my project had! To be able to have the freedom to become an expert on my specific product and do what I wanted with it was a very unique experience.

What I wish was different

I wish Microsoft had done a better job establishing a sense of community for interns remotely. I did not get to interact with others my age unless I actively sought out chats with them.

Advice

Never give up! No matter what stage of the project you’re in, no matter how far along your internship is, it is never safe to assume that you won’t get a return offer. Do your best, and leave behind no regrets!

Work hard, ask for as much help as you need and have a lot of fun. Also, network!! They are usually very willing to guide you and stay in touch!
